Several hundred members of the King’s Army of the English Civil War Society will march in the footsteps of King Charles I in commemoration of his death at the hands of the Parliament on 30 January 1649.

In Roman times Colchester (Camulodunum) was attacked and destroyed during Boudica's rebellion in AD 61. In 1648 Colchester was the site where a royalist army of 5,600 men was besieged by parliamentarians. We will look at the actions of both the attackers and the defenders of these actions and the sites remaining.
